Lauren has been practising in Orthopaedics for 20 years and believes strongly in the multi-disciplinary approach to sport performance and injury prevention. Lauren utilizes manual therapy and dry needling (Gunn IMS) techniques, combined with a focussed exercise-based program.
Lauren enjoys the challenge of working with each athlete’s unique biomechanics and movement patterns while applying them to the demands of the individual’s sport. She has treated clients from 5 to 86 years of age, from the elite to amateur to recreational level. With Lauren’s knowledge, clinical and on-field experience, she is dedicated to rehabilitating injuries and facilitating a safe, viable return to play. She further strives to optimize an athlete’s performance and prevent injury. For the non-athletes, Lauren applies the same principles to helping people stay active and pursue their leisure activities.
Lauren has served her profession as an Adjunct Professor at UBC in the Faculty of Medicine for 11 years, acted as Chair of the BC Orthopaedic Division for 10 years and is a mentor for candidates pursuing their Fellowship in Manual Therapy and Masters degrees.
Lauren has played sports and been active throughout her life. She played Varsity Field Hockey at Western University. She has run marathons, 50km trail races, done Ironman, multi day adventure races and Gran Fondos. She has experience rehabilitating her own injures, thus has good insight into helping others manage and overcome their injuries.
Lauren’s passion is getting her patients moving well and achieving optimal performance in activities/sports they love.
